So much more than a travelogue, this is the story of Robert Swan, who was inspired from the age of eleven to travel to the South Pole in the footsteps of Scott. Achieving this was just the beginning of a lifetime’s commitment to expose the consequences of climate change and promote alternative energy. He aims to inspire young people to take on the responsibility necessary to preserve a sustainable future, not just for Antarctica, but for the whole world. I hope everyone will read this book and make their own personal commitment to preserve Antarctica and help save our world.

In this unexpected yet informative travelogue, Peter Knight recounts his journey through Australia, particularly visiting the cities of Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, to spectate and commentate (for the reader) on the Ashes. I knew little about cricket before I read this book and followed the author’s advice, probably wise, to skip the technical pages. What remained was an interesting insight to Australia through his eyes. Whilst strongly disagreeing with the blurb: “young, wild, free-spirited; exciting, thrusting, dynamic; competitive, resourceful, up-and-coming”; I found this a worthwhile read from a respectable, conservative gentleman, impeccably polite and frequently humorous.
