Review: Spud Talbot-Ponsonby's "Small Steps with Paws and Hooves"

Continent: Europe
Genre: Memoir, Non-fiction
Sent in by: Sandra

Spud takes her family across the Grampion Mountains in Scotland from Aberlour to Blairgowrie. Following the drovers’ trail, life was limited only by the need to shift cattle from homestead to market. Accompanied by fifteen-month old Barnie, who rides atop the ever-patient horse, Ben, Spud recounts the early months of motherhood with natural instinct. Baby care is shared by Tess - her dog, and Rob - her future husband. Spud’s journey also explores the fears, hopes and dreams of her recent experience with cancer. Threaded into the journey, she revisits the diagnosis, surgery and recuperation with refreshing and reviving honesty.
